What is Play Therapy?

"Play therapy harnesses this natural inclination to play to create emotionally-safe therapeutic environments that foster communication, relationship-building, expression, problem-resolution, and mastery....Play therapy is theoretically-grounded, empirically-supported, and most importantly, focused on the unique strengths and needs of each child and his or her family.  The methods are many, but these three factors distinguish it from 'just playing with kids.'"
